Concrete Foundations
A+ Concrete pours strong foundations for homes, additions, garages and shops across the western Nebraska panhandle. Footings go below the frost line. Family-owned, licensed and insured.
A poured concrete foundation is the base your whole building sits on. We form it, place rebar, and pour solid concrete walls and footings that carry the weight of your home, addition, garage or shop. A good foundation stays level, keeps water out, and lasts for decades.

What Is a Poured Concrete Foundation?
A poured concrete foundation is a set of footings and walls made from wet concrete poured into forms. Once it cures, it becomes one solid, strong base. The footing is the wide part at the bottom. It spreads the weight of the building over the soil so nothing sinks or tips.
We build poured foundations for many kinds of projects. New homes need a full foundation. Room additions need footings and walls that tie into the existing house. Garages, pole barns and shops all need a solid base too. A strong foundation keeps floors flat, walls plumb, and doors and windows working right for years.

Why Footing Depth and the Frost Line Matter in Nebraska
Winters in the panhandle are cold. The ground freezes deep. When water in the soil freezes, it swells and pushes up. This is called frost heave. If a footing sits too shallow, that push can lift and crack your foundation. Then the whole building moves with it.
The fix is simple but important. We set footings below the frost line. That is the depth where the ground no longer freezes solid in winter. Below that line, the soil stays stable all year. Your footing has firm, unfrozen ground to rest on. It will not heave when the cold sets in.
We pour to the depth your local code and site call for. Deep, correct footings are one of the biggest reasons a foundation lasts. It is not a place to cut corners, and we never do.
Poured Concrete vs Block Foundations
You have two main choices for a foundation wall: poured concrete or concrete block. Both can work, but they are not the same. A poured concrete foundation is one solid piece. There are no joints between blocks for water or cracks to follow. That makes it stronger against soil pressure and better at keeping water out.
Block foundations are built from many stacked units held together with mortar. The mortar joints are the weak points. Over time they can leak or crack, especially with the freeze-thaw swings we get here. Poured walls hold up better against that stress.
For most homes and shops in our area, we recommend poured concrete. It gives you a stronger, more water-tight base with fewer weak spots. We are glad to explain the trade-offs for your exact build so you can choose with confidence.
What Does a Concrete Foundation Cost?
Every foundation is priced by the project. There is no one flat number, because no two builds are the same. The best way to know your cost is a free on-site estimate. Here is what shapes the price.
Size and footprint matter most. A bigger building needs more concrete, more forms and more labor. Footing depth adds cost too, since deeper footings below the frost line mean more digging and more concrete. Wall height and thickness change the amount of material. So does the rebar and the concrete mix you need for strength. Last, site conditions play a role: grading, access for our trucks, and how much soil or base prep the ground needs.
Industry cost guides often list poured concrete foundations in a wide per-square-foot range, but those national numbers are not a quote. They do not know your soil, your depth or your plans. We give you a clear, written price after we see the site. Call (308) 279-0424 to set up your free estimate. Ask us about financing too; financing is available, case by case.
The Pour and Cure Process Before Building
A strong foundation is built in careful steps. First we dig and form the footings below the frost line. We set the rebar to add tensile strength. Then we pour the footings and let them set. Next we form the walls, place more rebar, and pour the solid concrete walls.
After the pour, concrete needs time to cure. Curing is the slow chemical process that gives concrete its full strength. Rushing it is a mistake. Concrete that dries too fast in cold weather can crack from freeze-thaw stress. So we cure it the right way and protect it from the cold while it gains strength.
The foundation is walkable in about a day. Framing usually starts a few days to a week later, following the plan and the weather. Full cure takes about 28 days, though building can often begin well before that once the concrete reaches enough strength. We time each step so your base is solid before the next trade shows up.
Signs of a Foundation Problem
Foundations can develop problems over time, especially ones built too shallow or cured too fast. Watch for cracks in walls or floors, both inside and out. Small hairline cracks are common, but wide, growing or stair-step cracks are a warning sign. Look for doors and windows that stick or no longer close right.
Other signs include floors that slope or feel uneven, gaps where walls meet ceilings, and water seeping into a basement or crawl space. Settling on one side of the home can pull the whole structure out of square. Catching these signs early keeps repairs smaller and cheaper.
We build new foundations and we fix failing ones. If you see these signs, learn about our foundation and concrete repair work. We also pour concrete driveways, garage floors and sidewalks to finish out your property.

FAQ
Concrete Foundations, common questions
Where can I find a foundation concrete contractor near me in Bridgeport, NE?
A+ Concrete is based right in Bridgeport, NE and pours foundations across the western Nebraska panhandle. We are family-owned, licensed, insured and bonded, and owner Brian Giboney brings 31 years of hands-on concrete experience. Call (308) 279-0424 for a free estimate on your home, addition, garage or shop.
Is a poured concrete foundation worth it over a block foundation?
For most homes and shops here, yes. A poured concrete foundation is one solid piece with no mortar joints, so it is stronger against soil pressure and better at keeping water out. Block walls have joints that can leak or crack with freeze-thaw swings. Both can work, and we help you choose for your build.
How deep does a foundation footing go below the frost line in Nebraska?
Footings must sit below the frost line, the depth where the ground stops freezing solid in winter. In the cold panhandle that line is deep. We pour to the depth your local code and site require so the footing rests on stable, unfrozen soil and does not heave and crack when the cold sets in.
Can you pour a foundation for an addition, garage or shop?
Yes. We pour foundations for new homes, room additions, garages, pole barns and shops. For an addition, we form footings and walls that tie into your existing house. Each build gets footings set below the frost line and a solid poured base. Call (308) 279-0424 and we will look at your plans.
How long does a poured foundation cure before building can start?
A poured foundation is usually walkable in about a day. Framing typically starts a few days to a week later, following the plan and the weather. Full cure takes about 28 days, though building can often begin before that once the concrete reaches enough strength. We time each step so your base is solid first.
